She was born into a family of musicians, and her father was a conductor and composer. From a young age, Vallin showed a great interest in music, and she began taking singing lessons at the age of 14. Vallin's talent was quickly recognized, and she was accepted into the Conservatoire de Lyon, where she studied under the guidance of renowned vocal coach Janine Micheau. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, where she was mentored by the famous soprano Régine Crespin. In 1970, Vallin made her professional debut at the Opéra de Lyon, where she performed the role of Micaëla in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen. Her performance was well-received, and it marked the beginning of a successful career in the world of classical music. Over the course of her career, Vallin performed in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Opéra de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
