Hirschfelder's parents recognized his musical talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Hirschfelder began his musical training at the age of six, studying the piano with his mother. He showed exceptional talent and quickly progressed in his studies. At the age of ten, he began studying the violin with his father. Hirschfelder's parents were strict teachers, and they demanded excellence from their son. Hirschfelder rose to the challenge and became a prodigious musician. Hirschfelder's talent was recognized by the music community, and he was invited to perform at various concerts and events. He made his debut performance at the age of twelve, playing the violin concerto by Felix Mendelssohn. The audience was amazed by his virtuosity and musicality. Hirschfelder continued to perform at various concerts and events throughout his teenage years. In 1976, Hirschfelder was accepted into the Berlin University of the Arts, where he studied under the renowned violinist, Wolfgang Marschner.
