Peter Henderson was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Henderson showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Henderson's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, Henderson had already performed in several prestigious venues across Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2003, Henderson was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the academy, Henderson honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. He also began to experiment with different styles of music, incorporating elements of jazz and blues into his performances. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2007, Henderson began to establish himself as a solo artist. He performed in numerous concerts and recitals across Europe, receiving critical acclaim for his technical prowess and emotional depth. In 2009, he was invited to perform at the prestigious International Piano Festival in Warsaw, where he received a standing ovation for his performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. In 2012, he performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, receiving rave reviews for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. He has performed with some of the world's leading string quartets, including the Emerson Quartet and the Takács Quartet. He is also a member of the London Piano Trio, with whom he has recorded several critically acclaimed albums. Henderson's discography includes a wide range of repertoire, from Bach and Mozart to contemporary composers such as Thomas Adès and John Adams. His recordings have received numerous awards and accolades, including a Gramophone Award for his recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas. In 2015, Henderson was appointed as a professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music, where he continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of musicians.
