From a young age, Frans showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later started learning the violin and the cello, and by the age of ten, he had already performed in several concerts. Frans received his formal music education at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Dmitri Ferschtman. He graduated with honors in 2007 and went on to pursue a master's degree in cello performance at the same institution. During his studies, Frans also attended masterclasses with some of the world's leading cellists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Isserlis, and Anner Bylsma. Frans made his professional debut as a soloist with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta in 2008, performing Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major.
