Tamara Rumiantsev was born on May 12, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Tamara was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Tamara attended the Moscow Conservatory, where she studied under the renowned pianist and teacher, Vladimir Tropp. She graduated with honors in 2007 and went on to pursue a master's degree in piano performance at the Juilliard School in New York City. While at Juilliard, Tamara studied under the guidance of Yoheved Kaplinsky and Robert McDonald. Throughout her career, Tamara has won numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 2005, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy. She also won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain, in 2007. In 2008, Tamara was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians and provides financial support to help them further their careers. Tamara has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She has collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. Tamara has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Tamara's most memorable performances was her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2009. She performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 under the baton of Alan Gilbert.
