Born on September 19, 1987, in Tongeren, Belgium, Lenaerts began playing the harp at the age of nine. She was inspired by her mother, who was a music teacher, and her father, who played the trumpet. Lenaerts showed a natural talent for the harp and quickly progressed in her studies. Lenaerts studied at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in harp performance. She also studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Germany, with renowned harpist and pedagogue, Prof. Maria Graf. Lenaerts continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she received a postgraduate degree in harp performance. Lenaerts has won numerous awards and competitions throughout her career. In 2005, she won the International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. She was also a finalist in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany, in 2009.
