Charles Weaver was born on May 5, 1978, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Weaver showed a natural talent for music and began playing the guitar at the age of six. Weaver's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking guitar lessons with renowned classical guitarist Sharon Isbin and quickly became one of her star pupils. Isbin recognized Weaver's potential and helped him secure a scholarship to attend the Juilliard School in New York City. At Juilliard, Weaver studied with some of the most respected guitarists in the world, including Manuel Barrueco and David Russell. He also had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with legendary musicians such as Andrés Segovia and Julian Bream. Weaver's talent and hard work paid off, and he quickly established himself as one of the most promising young guitarists of his generation. He won numerous awards and competitions, including the Guitar Foundation of America International Solo Competition and the Parkening International Guitar Competition. In addition to his solo performances, Weaver also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles. He performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, among others. He also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Bach's lute suites. Weaver's performances were known for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He had a unique ability to connect with audiences and bring out the beauty and complexity of the music he played. His interpretations of classical guitar repertoire were praised for their sensitivity and nuance. Tragically, Weaver's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2005. Despite undergoing extensive treatment, he passed away on June 15, 2006, at the age of 28. Weaver's legacy lives on through his recordings and the memories of those who knew him. He was a true artist who dedicated his life to music and inspired countless others to do the same. His talent, passion, and dedication will always be remembered as a shining example of what it means to be a classical musician.
