He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a renowned cellist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Paul was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Paul's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the Vienna Conservatory of Music when he was six years old. He studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in Austria and quickly became known for his exceptional talent. By the time he was a teenager, Paul had won several national and international piano competitions. In 2003, Paul was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. He studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned piano teachers in the world, including Emanuel Ax and Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Paul continued to win awards and accolades, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Paul began performing professionally. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and dynamic pianists of his generation. He performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Paul's career was his performance at the 2010 Nobel Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. He performed alongside some of the world's most renowned musicians, including Herbie Hancock and Diana Krall. The concert was broadcast to millions of people around the world and was widely regarded as one of the most memorable performances in the history of the Nobel Prize Concert. In addition to his performances, Paul was also a prolific recording artist. He recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas. His recordings were widely praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. Throughout his career, Paul received numerous awards and accolades. He was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2012, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise.
