Frank De Vol was an American composer, arranger, and actor who made significant contributions to the world of classical music. He was born on September 20, 1911, in Moundsville, West Virginia, to a musical family. His father, Herman Frank De Vol, was a bandleader, and his mother, Minnie Emma Humphreys, was a pianist. Frank De Vol grew up in Canton, Ohio, where he began playing the violin at the age of nine. De Vol's musical talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a skilled musician. He attended the McKinley High School in Canton, where he played in the school orchestra and studied music theory. After graduating from high school, De Vol moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. In New York, De Vol worked as a freelance musician, playing in various bands and orchestras. He also began arranging music for other musicians and composers. In 1937, De Vol joined the staff of NBC Radio, where he worked as a staff arranger and conductor. He also worked as a composer for radio and television shows, including "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" and "The Brady Bunch." De Vol's career as a composer and arranger took off in the 1940s and 1950s. He worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Doris Day. He also composed music for films, including "The Glass Bottom Boat" and "Pillow Talk." One of De Vol's most significant contributions to classical music was his work as an arranger. He was known for his ability to take popular songs and turn them into orchestral pieces. He arranged many of the songs that became standards in the American songbook, including "Stardust," "Autumn Leaves," and "I'll Be Seeing You."
