Lev began his musical education at the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Alexander Bonduryansky. He later continued his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory, where he was mentored by Professor Yuri Bashmet. During his time at the conservatory, Lev won several awards and accolades for his exceptional talent. In 2001, he won the First Prize at the International Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow. He also won the First Prize at the International Competition for Viola Players in St. Petersburg in 2003. After completing his studies, Lev began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Lev has collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also performed with some of the most celebrated musicians of our time, such as Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, and Joshua Bell. One of the highlights of Lev's career was his performance at the 2006 Nobel Prize Concert in Stockholm, Sweden. He was invited to perform alongside the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti. The concert was attended by the Nobel laureates and members of the Swedish royal family. Lev has also made several recordings throughout his career, which have received critical acclaim. His recording of the Shostakovich Viola Sonata with pianist Alexei Goribol was awarded the Diapason d'Or in 2008. He has also recorded the complete works for viola and piano by Brahms, which was released by the Naxos label. Apart from his career as a performer, Lev is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at several music schools and conservatories around the world, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
