Taryn Fiebig is a renowned Australian soprano who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on 10th August 1972 in Sydney, Australia, Taryn grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Her mother was a music teacher, and her father was a jazz musician. Taryn's love for music was evident from a young age, and she started singing in choirs and performing in school plays. Taryn's formal music education began at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she studied voice under the guidance of Maree Ryan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1994 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the same institution. During her time at the conservatorium, Taryn was a member of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and performed in various productions, including Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and Handel's "Messiah." After completing her studies, Taryn began her professional career as a soprano. She made her operatic debut in 1996 as Barbarina in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" with Opera Australia. This was the beginning of a long and successful association with the company, and Taryn went on to perform in numerous productions with Opera Australia over the years. One of Taryn's most memorable performances with Opera Australia was in 2003 when she played the role of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Her performance was widely acclaimed, and she received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. In 2004, Taryn was awarded the prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Female Performer in an Opera for her role in "The Marriage of Figaro." Taryn's talent as a soprano was not limited to opera. She was also a sought-after concert performer and performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. In 2006, Taryn performed in the world premiere of Brett Dean's "The Lost Art of Letter Writing" with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Her performance was widely praised, and she was hailed as one of Australia's finest sopranos. In addition to her performances in Australia, Taryn has also performed internationally. She made her European debut in 2007 when she performed in Handel's "Messiah" with the Academy of Ancient Music in London. She has also performed in the United States, Asia, and New Zealand. Taryn's talent as a soprano has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In addition to the Helpmann Award she received in 2004, she has also been awarded the Green Room Award for Best Female in a Supporting Role in an Opera (2005), the Limelight Award for Best Performance by a Female Artist (2012), and the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (2013). Despite her success as a soprano, Taryn has remained humble and grounded. She is known for her warm and friendly personality and her dedication to her craft. She is also passionate about mentoring young singers and has served as a vocal coach and mentor for the Opera Australia Young Artist Program. In 2019, Taryn announced that she would be retiring from the stage to focus on her family and her teaching career. Her final performance was in the role of Despina in Mozart's "Così fan tutte" with Opera Australia. Her retirement was met with sadness by her fans and colleagues, who praised her for her talent, dedication, and contribution to the world of classical music.
