Sara Murphy was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Sara showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She later picked up the violin and the cello, and by the time she was a teenager, she had become a proficient multi-instrumentalist.
