Gertraud Hopf was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a violinist. From a young age, Gertraud showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Gertraud was enrolled in the Vienna Conservatory, where she received formal training in classical piano. She quickly excelled in her studies and began performing in public at the age of six. Her talent was recognized early on, and she was invited to perform at various concerts and festivals throughout Austria. In 1996, at the age of eleven, Gertraud won first prize in the prestigious International Piano Competition in Vienna. This was a major milestone in her career and opened up many doors for her. She was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. Over the years, Gertraud has performed in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She has also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. Gertraud's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Liszt. She is known for her technical virtuosity and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she plays. In addition to her performances, Gertraud is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Vienna Conservatory and has given masterclasses around the world. She is passionate about passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians. Throughout her career, Gertraud has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2005, she was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, and in 2010, she was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace. She has also been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Order of Merit of the Republic of Austria. Despite her many achievements, Gertraud remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, always striving to improve and to bring joy to audiences around the world. Her passion for music is infectious, and she is an inspiration to musicians and music lovers everywhere.
