Karin Schaupp is a renowned classical guitarist from Australia. She was born on August 29, 1972, in Brisbane, Queensland. Her father, Siegfried Schaupp, was a classical guitarist and her mother, Roslyn Schaupp, was a music teacher. Karin grew up in a musical family and started playing the guitar at the age of five. She was inspired by her father and started taking lessons from him. Karin showed exceptional talent at a young age and won her first competition at the age of nine. She continued to win several competitions and awards throughout her childhood and teenage years. In 1988, she won the Queensland Guitar Competition and the Australian Guitar Competition. She also won the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Young Performer of the Year Award in 1990. Karin studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1992. She then went on to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, where she received a Master of Music degree in 1995. During her time in Vienna, she studied with renowned guitarists such as Alvaro Pierri and Karl Scheit. After completing her studies, Karin started performing professionally and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. She has performed in major concert halls around the world, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed with several orchestras, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Karin has released several albums throughout her career, including "Karin Schaupp Plays Mozart" and "Karin Schaupp Plays Bach". Her album "Evocation" was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2007. She has also collaborated with several other musicians, including cellist Umberto Clerici and singer Katie Noonan. In addition to her performing career, Karin is also a respected music educator. She has taught at several institutions, including the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the University of Queensland. She has also conducted masterclasses around the world and has been a judge for several guitar competitions. Karin has received several awards and honors throughout her career. In 1997, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Award for her services to music. She was also awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2010 for her contributions to the arts.
