He studied at the Purcell School of Music and later at the Royal College of Music, where he was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl for outstanding achievement. Driver's career as a professional pianist began in earnest in the early 2000s, when he won several major competitions, including the Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition and the BBC's New Generation Artists scheme. These accolades helped to establish him as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation, and he quickly began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. The recital, which included works by Schumann, Debussy, and Bartók, was widely praised for its technical brilliance and musical sensitivity. The following year, Driver made his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 under the baton of Jirí Belohlávek.
