The quartet was founded in 1998 in Vienna, Austria, by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The members of the quartet are Barnabás Kelemen (violin), Eszter Perényi (violin), Ákos Takács (viola), and József Lendvay (cello). Barnabás Kelemen was born in Hungary in 1978 and began playing the violin at the age of five. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. Kelemen has won numerous awards for his performances, including the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and the International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais in Switzerland. Eszter Perényi was born in Hungary in 1974 and started playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. Perényi has won several awards for her performances, including the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and the International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais in Switzerland. Ákos Takács was born in Hungary in 1975 and began playing the viola at the age of six. József Lendvay was born in Hungary in 1974 and started playing the cello at the age of six. Lendvay has won numerous awards for his performances, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the International Pablo Casals Cello Competition in Budapest. They performed Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, to critical acclaim. The quartet's interpretation of the piece was praised for its emotional depth and technical precision. In 2004, the Aron Quartett was awarded the Echo Klassik Award for their recording of Schubert's String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, "Death and the Maiden."
