Ensemble Danguy is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for early music. The ensemble is named after the French composer and lutenist Robert de Visée, who was also known as Danguy. The group is based in Paris, France, and is made up of some of the most talented musicians in the country. The founding members of Ensemble Danguy were all graduates of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and they had all studied early music extensively. They were inspired to form the ensemble after performing together in various other groups and realizing that they shared a common vision for the interpretation of early music. The main members of Ensemble Danguy are: - Claire Antonini, who plays the theorbo and the baroque guitar - Marianne Muller, who plays the viola da gamba - Esteban La Rotta, who plays the lute and the baroque guitar - Jean-Christophe Frisch, who plays the recorder and the transverse flute - Carine Tinney, who plays the viola da gamba and the violone - Bruno Helstroffer, who plays the theorbo and the baroque guitar The ensemble is known for its innovative and dynamic interpretations of early music, and for its ability to bring new life to old works. They are particularly interested in the music of the French Baroque, and have performed works by composers such as Marin Marais, François Couperin, and Jean-Philippe Rameau. One of the highlights of Ensemble Danguy's career was their performance at the Festival de Musique Baroque de Pontoise in 2010. They were invited to perform a program of French Baroque music, which included works by Marais, Couperin, and Rameau. The performance was a huge success, and the ensemble received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. In 2012, Ensemble Danguy released their debut album, "Les Voix Humaines," which featured works by Marais and other French Baroque composers. The album was well-received by critics, and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading early music groups in France. Since then, Ensemble Danguy has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious early music festivals in Europe, including the Festival de Musique Ancienne de Saintes, the Festival de Musique Baroque de Versailles, and the Festival de Musique Ancienne d'Utrecht. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned early music ensembles in the world, including Les Arts Florissants and Le Concert des Nations. In 2016, Ensemble Danguy was awarded the prestigious Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour le chant choral, which recognizes excellence in the performance of early music. The award was a testament to the ensemble's dedication to their craft, and to their ability to bring new life to old works. Today, Ensemble Danguy continues to be one of the most innovative and dynamic early music ensembles in Europe. They are known for their virtuosic performances, their innovative interpretations, and their ability to connect with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
