Jonathan Tetelman is a rising star in the world of classical music. Born in New York City, Tetelman grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. He began singing in choirs and taking voice lessons as a child, and quickly developed a passion for opera. Tetelman attended the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under renowned vocal coach Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. He also participated in the school's opera program, performing in productions of works by Mozart, Verdi, and Puccini. After graduating from the Manhattan School of Music, Tetelman began to make a name for himself in the opera world. He made his professional debut in 2013 as Rodolfo in Puccini's La bohème with the Opera Company of Middlebury. He went on to perform with a number of other companies, including the Sarasota Opera, the Virginia Opera, and the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. In 2016, Tetelman won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, one of the most prestigious competitions for young opera singers in the United States. The win earned him a cash prize and a performance at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Since then, Tetelman has continued to impress audiences and critics alike with his powerful voice and dynamic stage presence. He has performed in a number of high-profile productions, including Verdi's Rigoletto at the Glimmerglass Festival and Puccini's Tosca at the Virginia Opera. Tetelman has also been recognized for his work outside of the opera world. In 2018, he was named a finalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition, which recognizes excellence in the performance of music by Kurt Weill. Despite his success, Tetelman remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to work with vocal coaches and mentors to refine his technique and expand his repertoire. He is also passionate about using his platform to promote diversity and inclusion in the opera world, and has spoken out about the need for more representation of people of color and other marginalized groups in the industry.
