Born in Moscow, Russia in 1988, Kouzmenko showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of five. Her parents, both professional musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Kouzmenko's early training was rigorous and demanding, but she thrived under the guidance of her teachers. She quickly developed a reputation as a prodigious talent, winning numerous competitions and awards throughout her childhood and teenage years. By the time she was in her early twenties, Kouzmenko had established herself as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. In 2010, Kouzmenko graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory with honors, having studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Sergei Dorensky. She then went on to pursue further studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands, where she worked with the celebrated pianist and teacher Naum Grubert. Kouzmenko's career as a professional pianist began in earnest in the years following her graduation from the Royal Conservatory. She quickly gained a reputation as a dynamic and engaging performer, with a particular affinity for the music of the Romantic era. Her performances were marked by a combination of technical brilliance and emotional depth, and she quickly became a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. One of the highlights of Kouzmenko's early career was her performance at the 2012 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She was one of only six pianists selected to compete in the prestigious event, which is widely regarded as one of the most important competitions for classical musicians. Kouzmenko's performance in the competition was widely praised for its technical precision and musical sensitivity, and she was awarded a special prize for her interpretation of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.
