Edith Ruiz was born on May 12, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico. She was born into a family of musicians, and her parents were both professional classical musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Edith was exposed to classical music and began to show an interest in playing the piano. At the age of five, Edith began taking piano lessons with her mother. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began to excel in her studies. By the age of ten, she had already won several local piano competitions and had begun to perform in public. In 1997, Edith was accepted into the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City. She studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in the country and continued to develop her skills as a pianist. During her time at the conservatory, she won several awards and competitions, including the National Piano Competition in 2001. After graduating from the conservatory, Edith continued her studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. She studied under the tutelage of some of the most respected piano teachers in the world, including Emanuel Ax and Yoheved Kaplinsky. During her time at Juilliard, Edith won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005. Following her success at the Van Cliburn Competition, Edith began to perform extensively throughout the world. She has performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has also performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonie. In addition to her performances, Edith has also recorded several albums. Her debut album, released in 2007, featured works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish Edith as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. Throughout her career, Edith has received numerous awards and honors. In 2008, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. In 2010, she was awarded the Gilmore Artist Award, which is given to pianists who demonstrate exceptional musicianship and creativity.
