Maxine Thévenot is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music through her exceptional talent and dedication. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Thévenot began her musical journey at a young age, showing a keen interest in music and performing arts. She started playing the piano at the age of four and quickly developed a passion for classical music. Thévenot's musical talent was evident from an early age, and she received her first piano lessons from her mother, who was a music teacher. She continued her musical education at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she studied piano and organ. Thévenot's talent and dedication to music were recognized early on, and she was awarded numerous scholarships and awards for her outstanding performances. After completing her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Thévenot continued her education at the University of Alberta, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. She was appointed as the Director of Music at the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she served for over a decade. Thévenot's talent and dedication to music have earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Paul Creston Award for Excellence in Sacred Music by the Sacred Music Institute of America. She has also been awarded the Albuquerque Arts Alliance Bravo Award for Excellence in Music and the New Mexico Music Award for Best Classical Album. Thévenot's performances have taken her to some of the most prestigious concert halls and cathedrals around the world. She has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, and St. Paul's Cathedral in London, among others. Her performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, emotional depth, and spiritual power. In addition to her work as a performer, Thévenot is also a respected music educator and mentor. She has taught at the University of New Mexico and the University of Texas at El Paso, and she has served as a guest lecturer and clinician at numerous universities and music schools around the world. Thévenot is also the founder and artistic director of Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico, a professional choral ensemble that has gained national recognition for its innovative programming and exceptional performances.
