Artist Info
Accademia Hermans is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2011 by the Dutch violinist and conductor, Johannes Leertouwer. The ensemble is named after the famous Dutch composer, Joseph Hermans, who was a contemporary of Mozart and Haydn. The founding of Accademia Hermans was inspired by Leertouwer's desire to create a chamber orchestra that would specialize in performing music from the Classical and Romantic periods. He wanted to create an ensemble that would be dedicated to exploring the nuances and subtleties of this music, and to bringing it to life in a way that would be both authentic and engaging. The ensemble's main members are all highly skilled musicians who share Leertouwer's passion for classical music. They include violinists Johannes Leertouwer, Shunske Sato, and Sayuri Yamagata; violists Ryoichi Fujimori and Yukiko Ogura; cellist Lucia Swarts; and double bassist Rainer Zipperling. The ensemble is also joined by guest musicians on occasion, depending on the repertoire being performed. Accademia Hermans has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Salzburg Festival. The ensemble has also toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and has received critical acclaim for its performances. One of the highlights of Accademia Hermans' career was its performance of Mozart's Requiem at the Salzburg Festival in 2016. The ensemble was joined by the Salzburg Bach Choir and a group of soloists, and the performance was conducted by Johannes Leertouwer. The concert was a huge success, and received a standing ovation from the audience. Accademia Hermans has also been recognized for its recordings, which have received numerous awards and critical acclaim. The ensemble's recording of Mozart's Violin Concertos, which was released in 2014, was praised for its "exquisite playing" and "impeccable interpretation." The recording won the prestigious Edison Award, which is one of the most prestigious music awards in the Netherlands. In addition to its performances and recordings, Accademia Hermans is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has worked with a number of music schools and conservatories throughout Europe and Asia. Overall, Accademia Hermans is a highly respected and acclaimed classical music ensemble that is known for its exceptional performances and recordings. The ensemble's dedication to exploring the nuances and subtleties of classical music has earned it a loyal following of fans and critics alike, and its commitment to education and outreach ensures that its legacy will continue for generations to come.More....
