Role:EnsembleGenre:VocalChicago Chamber Musicians (CCM) is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 30 years. The group was founded in 1986 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to bring it to a wider audience. The founding members of CCM were violinist Joseph Genualdi, cellist Christopher Costanza, and pianist Deborah Sobol. They were soon joined by clarinetist Larry Combs, violist Rami Solomonow, and flutist Susan Levitin. Together, they formed a core group of musicians that would go on to perform together for many years. From the beginning, CCM was committed to presenting a diverse range of chamber music repertoire, from the classics to contemporary works. They also sought to collaborate with other artists and organizations to bring their music to new audiences. One of their early collaborations was with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, with whom they performed a series of concerts in 1988. Over the years, CCM has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Ravinia Festival. They have also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Pinchas Zukerman, and Dawn Upshaw. One of the highlights of CCM's career was their performance at the White House in 1998, where they played for President Bill Clinton and other dignitaries. They also received critical acclaim for their recording of the complete chamber music of Brahms, which was released in 2001. In addition to their performances, CCM has also been recognized for their educational outreach programs. They have worked with schools and community organizations to bring chamber music to young people and underserved communities. They have also mentored young musicians through their Apprentice Program, which provides opportunities for emerging artists to perform with the ensemble. Throughout their history, CCM has received numerous awards and accolades for their contributions to the world of classical music. In 1990, they were awarded the Illinois Arts Council Governor's Award for their outstanding contributions to the arts in the state. They have also been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Chamber Music America, and the Grammy Awards. Despite the challenges faced by classical music in the modern era, CCM has remained committed to their mission of bringing chamber music to a wider audience. They continue to perform regularly and collaborate with other artists and organizations to promote the art form. Their dedication to excellence and their passion for music have made them one of the most respected and beloved chamber music ensembles in the world.More....
