François Roberday was a French Baroque composer and organist who lived from 1624 to 1680. He was born in Paris, France, and was the son of a wealthy merchant. Roberday showed an early interest in music and began studying the organ at a young age. He was a prodigious talent and quickly became known for his virtuosic playing and innovative compositions. Roberday's musical education was extensive. He studied with some of the most prominent musicians of his time, including Jacques Champion de Chambonnières and Louis Couperin. Roberday's most famous work is his "Fugues et Caprices," a collection of pieces for the organ that showcases his virtuosic playing and innovative compositional style.
