Cobus du Toit is a renowned classical flutist from South Africa. He was born on August 22, 1979, in Pretoria, South Africa. From a young age, Cobus showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. He began playing the flute at the age of 10 and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Cobus attended the University of Pretoria, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance. He then went on to study at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Master of Music degree in flute performance. During his time at the University of Cincinnati, Cobus studied under the renowned flutist Bradley Garner. After completing his studies, Cobus began his professional career as a flutist. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at various prestigious events and venues around the world. Some of his most notable performances include his solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City, his performance with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and his performance at the National Flute Association Convention. Cobus has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2003, he won the National Flute Association's Young Artist Competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious competitions for young flutists. He has also won the University of Pretoria's prestigious Helgaard Steyn Award for Music, as well as the University of Cincinnati's prestigious Corbett Award for Excellence in Music. In addition to his solo performances, Cobus is also an active chamber musician.
