Marianne Fiset is a Canadian soprano who has established herself as one of the leading classical music artists of her generation. Born in Quebec City, Canada, on May 22, 1979, Fiset showed an early interest in music and began singing in choirs at a young age. She studied voice at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and later at the Université Laval, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. Fiset's talent was recognized early on, and she was awarded several prestigious scholarships and prizes, including the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada competition and the Prix d'Europe. She also won the Montreal International Musical Competition in 2007, which helped launch her international career. Fiset has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre de la Radio-Télévision Belge, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestre de la Suisse Italienne, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Fiset has also performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and the Seoul Arts Center. Fiset's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Mahler, Strauss, Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, Britten, and many others. She is particularly known for her interpretations of French and German art songs, and has recorded several albums of this repertoire, including "Mélodies françaises" and "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen." In addition to her work as a soloist, Fiset is also a dedicated chamber musician and has collaborated with many renowned instrumentalists and ensembles, including the Quatuor Alcan, the Gryphon Trio, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, and the Trio Wanderer. Fiset's performances have been widely praised for their beauty, sensitivity, and emotional depth. She has been described as having a "silvery, pure voice" (The New York Times), "a voice of exceptional beauty and clarity" (The Globe and Mail), and "a voice that can soar to the heavens" (The Guardian).
