The Neumeyer Consort is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for early music. The ensemble is named after Johann Gottlieb Neumeyer, a German composer and music theorist who lived in the 18th century. The founding members of the Neumeyer Consort were violinist and artistic director Anne Marie Dragosits, cellist and musicologist Michael Hell, and harpsichordist and organist Johannes Hämmerle. They were later joined by flutist and recorder player Veronika Schreiber and viola da gamba player and cellist Martin Rummel. The ensemble's repertoire focuses on music from the Baroque and early Classical periods, with a particular emphasis on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. They have also performed works by other composers of the time, such as Georg Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi, and Georg Friedrich Händel. One of the highlights of the Neumeyer Consort's career was their performance at the 2012 Bachfest Leipzig, one of the most prestigious festivals of Baroque music in the world. The ensemble performed Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, which features a virtuosic harpsichord solo. The performance was praised for its technical precision and musicality, and the ensemble received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to their performances of Bach's music, the Neumeyer Consort has also gained recognition for their interpretations of lesser-known works from the Baroque period. They have recorded several albums, including "Bach's Circle," which features works by Bach's contemporaries, and "Bach's Sons," which showcases the music of Bach's sons Carl Philipp Emanuel and Johann Christian. The Neumeyer Consort has received several awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2014, they were awarded the ECHO Klassik award for their album "Bach's Circle." The ECHO Klassik is one of the most prestigious awards in the classical music industry, and is given to artists who have made outstanding contributions to the field. The Neumeyer Consort continues to perform and record music from the Baroque and early Classical periods, and has established itself as one of the leading ensembles in the field. Their commitment to historical accuracy and musical excellence has earned them a loyal following among classical music enthusiasts, and their performances are eagerly anticipated by audiences around the world.
