Role:EnsemblePeriod:ModernGenre:ChamberCorda Quartet is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over two decades. The quartet was founded in 1997 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a unique sound that would set them apart from other ensembles. The founding members of Corda Quartet were violinists Anna Kandinskaya and Olga Kotchenkova, violist Vladimir Mendelssohn, and cellist Ivan Vukčević. All four musicians had extensive experience performing with other ensembles and orchestras before coming together to form Corda Quartet. From the very beginning, Corda Quartet was committed to exploring the full range of the chamber music repertoire, from the classics of Mozart and Beethoven to the contemporary works of living composers. They quickly gained a reputation for their technical precision, musical sensitivity, and innovative interpretations of both well-known and lesser-known works. Over the years, Corda Quartet has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and music festivals, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. They have also collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and violinist Maxim Vengerov. One of the highlights of Corda Quartet's career was their performance of Beethoven's complete string quartets at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2007. This was a monumental undertaking that required months of preparation and rehearsal, but the quartet rose to the challenge and delivered a series of unforgettable performances that were hailed by critics and audiences alike. Another notable performance by Corda Quartet was their collaboration with the renowned choreographer Mark Morris on a production of Mozart's "Dissonance" quartet. This production, which premiered at the Lincoln Center in New York in 2013, combined live music with dance to create a truly unique and immersive experience for the audience. Corda Quartet has also been recognized with numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2002, they won the first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan, and in 2005 they were awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which provides support and recognition to exceptional young musicians. Despite their many achievements, Corda Quartet remains committed to their original mission of exploring the full range of the chamber music repertoire and creating a unique sound that is both technically precise and emotionally expressive. They continue to inspire audiences around the world with their exceptional performances and innovative interpretations of classical music.More....
