Born on May 22, 1992, in Quebec City, Canada, Bélanger showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with renowned pianists in his hometown. As a young musician, Bélanger participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning several awards and accolades. In 2006, he won first prize at the Canadian Music Competition, and in 2008, he was awarded the Grand Prize at the Concours de Musique de la Capitale. These early successes helped to establish Bélanger as a rising star in the Canadian classical music scene. During his time at Juilliard, Bélanger continued to hone his skills and develop his musical style, drawing inspiration from a wide range of composers and performers. Bélanger's breakthrough performance came in 2012, when he won first prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition. This prestigious competition, which has been held since 1943, attracts some of the world's most talented young musicians and is widely regarded as one of the most important events in the classical music calendar. Bélanger's victory at the competition helped to establish him as a major talent in the classical music world and opened up new opportunities for him to perform on the international stage. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and has given recitals at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Bélanger's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Chopin, which he has described as "the most beautiful and poetic music ever written for the piano." Bélanger's performances are characterized by their technical precision, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity, and he has been praised by critics for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music he plays. In addition to his performing career, Bélanger is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians.
