The group was founded in 1996 by the British violinist and conductor, Thomas Kemp, who remains the artistic director to this day. Thomas Kemp was born in London in 1969 and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
