He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known opera singer in Armenia. Grigorian's love for music was evident from a young age, and he began singing in the choir of the Yerevan State Conservatory at the age of six. Grigorian's talent was recognized early on, and he was accepted into the Yerevan State Conservatory at the age of 16. He studied under the tutelage of Professor Arshak Adamian, who was a renowned vocal coach in Armenia. Grigorian's training was rigorous, and he spent long hours practicing and perfecting his craft. In 1974, Grigorian made his debut at the Armenian National Opera, where he performed the role of Lensky in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." His performance was well-received, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young tenors in Armenia.
