From a young age, Brewer showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As Brewer grew older, she became more interested in classical music and began studying the violin. She quickly excelled at the instrument and began performing in local orchestras and competitions. At the age of 12, Brewer won first place in the New York State Music Teachers Association competition. Brewer continued to study the violin throughout her teenage years and eventually attended the Juilliard School in New York City. While at Juilliard, Brewer studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. After graduating from Juilliard, Brewer began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in the world and began performing in major concert halls around the globe. One of Brewer's most notable performances came in 2008 when she performed with the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center. The performance was widely praised by critics and cemented Brewer's status as a rising star in the classical music world. In addition to her solo performances, Brewer also became a sought-after chamber musician. She formed a string quartet with three other Juilliard graduates and began performing regularly at festivals and concert series around the world. Brewer's talent and hard work were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2010, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a solo career. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2012. Despite her success, Brewer remained humble and dedicated to her craft. She continued to practice for hours each day and sought out new challenges and opportunities to grow as a musician. Tragically, Brewer's promising career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. She underwent treatment and continued to perform when she was able, but her health continued to decline. Brewer passed away on June 15, 2017, at the age of 32. Her death was a great loss to the classical music world, but her legacy lives on through her recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to hear her perform.More....
