He studied at the Saratov State Conservatory and later earned a degree in music education from the Moscow State Conservatory. Together, Timofeyev and Kolpakov formed Czar's Guitars, a name inspired by their Russian heritage and their love of classical music. The ensemble's unique sound is a result of their use of traditional Russian instruments, such as the balalaika and domra, in combination with classical guitars. Czar's Guitars quickly gained a following and began performing at major venues and festivals around the world.
