Sharolyn Kimmorley is a renowned Australian classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music as a pianist, vocal coach, and accompanist. Born on 22nd August 1956 in Sydney, Australia, Kimmorley showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Kimmorley received her early education at the Conservatorium High School in Sydney, where she studied piano under the guidance of Alexander Sverjensky. She later went on to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. During her time at the conservatorium, Kimmorley was awarded the prestigious Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Scholarship, which allowed her to study in London with renowned pianist and teacher Maria Curcio. After completing her studies, Kimmorley began her career as a pianist and accompanist, performing with some of the world's leading singers and instrumentalists. She has worked with artists such as Dame Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti, Marilyn Horne, and José Carreras, among others. Kimmorley has also performed extensively as a soloist, both in Australia and internationally. One of the highlights of Kimmorley's career was her long association with Opera Australia, where she worked as a vocal coach and accompanist for over three decades. During her time with the company, Kimmorley worked on numerous productions, including the critically acclaimed production of Wagner's Ring Cycle, which was staged in Melbourne in 2013. Kimmorley's work with Opera Australia earned her widespread recognition and numerous awards, including the prestigious Order of Australia in 2010. In addition to her work with Opera Australia, Kimmorley has also been involved in a number of other musical projects. She has worked as a vocal coach and accompanist for the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian National Academy of Music. Kimmorley has also been involved in a number of recordings, including a highly acclaimed recording of Schubert's Winterreise with baritone Peter Coleman-Wright.
