François Soons was born on May 12, 1985, in Brussels, Belgium. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Soons showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Soons received his formal music education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Daniel Blumenthal. During his time at the conservatory, Soons won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Dexia Classics Competition in 2003. After completing his studies at the conservatory, Soons continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where he studied with pianist and pedagogue Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Soons made his professional debut in 2007, performing with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Michel Tabachnik.
