The Bavarian Radio Chamber Orchestra is a renowned classical music ensemble based in Munich, Germany. Founded in 1949, the orchestra has established itself as one of the leading chamber orchestras in Europe, known for its exceptional musicianship and innovative programming. The orchestra was founded by Eugen Jochum, a prominent conductor and pianist who served as its first music director. The orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades throughout its history, including the Bavarian Culture Prize in 1989 and the Echo Klassik Award in 2007. It has also been recognized for its commitment to contemporary music, commissioning and performing works by composers such as Wolfgang Rihm and Sofia Gubaidulina.
