Gwénaël Bihan is a French classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a virtuoso flutist. Born on May 5, 1981, in Rennes, France, Bihan grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a singer. From a young age, Bihan showed a keen interest in music and began playing the flute at the age of six. Bihan's talent was evident from the start, and he quickly became a prodigy. He studied at the Conservatoire de Rennes, where he won numerous awards and accolades. In 2011, he was awarded the prestigious Victoire de la Musique Classique, the French equivalent of the Grammy Awards, for his album "Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Flute." Bihan's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque era to contemporary music. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of J.S. Bach, and has recorded several albums of Bach's works for solo flute. He is also a champion of contemporary music, and has premiered works by some of the most important composers of our time, including Kaija Saariaho and Philippe Hersant. In addition to his work as a performer, Bihan is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at several prestigious institutions, including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany.
