Artist Info
Alfonso Soldano was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1955, in Naples, Italy. He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a singer, so it was no surprise that Alfonso showed an interest in music from a young age. Alfonso began his musical education at the age of six when he started taking piano lessons. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and progressed rapidly. By the time he was a teenager, he was already performing in public and had won several local competitions. In 1973, Alfonso was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Aldo Ciccolini. During his time at the conservatory, Alfonso honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. After graduating from the conservatory, Alfonso began his professional career as a concert pianist. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical skill and his ability to interpret complex pieces of music. He performed extensively throughout Italy and Europe, and his concerts were always well-received by audiences and critics alike. One of the highlights of Alfonso's career was his performance at the 1980 International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. He was one of the youngest competitors in the competition, but he managed to impress the judges with his performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor. He was awarded second prize, which was a significant achievement for a young pianist. Over the years, Alfonso continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world. He was particularly well-known for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Liszt, and Beethoven. He also had a deep love for contemporary music and often included pieces by modern composers in his concerts. In addition to his performing career, Alfonso was also a respected teacher. He taught at several music schools and conservatories throughout Italy and was known for his patient and encouraging approach to teaching. Many of his students went on to have successful careers as musicians themselves. Throughout his career, Alfonso received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to classical music. In 1998, he was awarded the prestigious Premio Napoli, which is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts and culture of Naples. He was also awarded the Cavaliere della Repubblica, one of Italy's highest honors, in recognition of his achievements as a musician. Sadly, Alfonso's career was cut short when he passed away in 2005 at the age of 50. However, his legacy lives on through his recordings and the many students he taught over the years. He will always be remembered as a talented and passionate musician who dedicated his life to the art of classical music.More....
