She was the daughter of a Swedish mother and a French father, and her family moved to Paris when she was a child. Thébault showed an early interest in music and began studying the piano at the age of six. She later studied at the Paris Conservatory, where she excelled in her studies and won several awards. Thébault made her debut as a concert pianist in 1945, performing in Paris to critical acclaim. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate performer, and her career took off. Thébault performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States, playing with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras and conductors. One of Thébault's most notable performances was in 1955, when she played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Bernstein. The performance was a huge success, and Thébault received a standing ovation from the audience. She went on to perform with the New York Philharmonic several more times over the course of her career. Thébault was also known for her recordings, which were highly regarded by critics and music lovers alike.
