Role:EnsembleGenre:ChamberCorona Guitar Kvartet is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1999 in Denmark. The quartet consists of four members, all of whom are accomplished guitarists: Lars Bjørnkjær, Mikkel Egelund Nielsen, Mikkel Andersen, and Martin Buono. The ensemble's founding members, Lars Bjørnkjær and Mikkel Egelund Nielsen, met while studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. They quickly discovered a shared passion for classical guitar music and decided to form a quartet with two other like-minded musicians. Corona Guitar Kvartet's repertoire is primarily focused on classical guitar music from the Baroque and Romantic periods, as well as contemporary works by modern composers. The quartet is known for their virtuosic performances and their ability to bring new life to classic pieces. One of the highlights of Corona Guitar Kvartet's career was their performance at the 2002 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. The quartet was awarded first prize, which helped to launch their international career. They have since performed at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen. In addition to their concert performances, Corona Guitar Kvartet has also released several critically acclaimed albums. Their debut album, "Corona Guitar Kvartet," was released in 2002 and featured works by Bach, Piazzolla, and Brouwer. The quartet's second album, "Romantic Guitar Quartets," was released in 2005 and included works by Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Giuliani. Corona Guitar Kvartet has also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles throughout their career. In 2010, they performed with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and in 2012, they collaborated with the Danish String Quartet for a performance of Boccherini's Guitar Quintet. Despite their success, Corona Guitar Kvartet remains committed to their roots as a classical guitar ensemble. They continue to perform and record music that showcases the beauty and versatility of the guitar, and they remain dedicated to promoting classical guitar music to audiences around the world.More....
