Claudio Desderi is a renowned Italian baritone who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on December 23, 1959, in Florence, Italy, Desderi grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a tenor and his mother was a pianist, and they both encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Desderi began his musical training at a young age, studying piano and singing. He later attended the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence, where he studied voice under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Bergonzi. After completing his studies, Desderi made his professional debut in 1985, performing the role of Figaro in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" at the Teatro Comunale in Florence. Desderi's career quickly took off, and he began performing in major opera houses around the world. He made his debut at La Scala in Milan in 1987, performing the role of Guglielmo in Mozart's "Così fan tutte." He also performed at the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Vienna State Opera, among others. Desderi is known for his powerful voice and his ability to convey emotion through his performances. He has performed a wide range of roles, from comedic characters like Figaro to tragic figures like Rigoletto. He has also been awarded the Premio Franco Abbiati, the Premio della Critica Musicale, and the Premio Puccini, among others. In addition to his work as an opera singer, Desderi is also a respected teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the Conservatorio di Musica in Florence, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He is also a member of the faculty at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Desderi continues to perform and teach, and his contributions to the world of classical music have been significant.
