Maria Caterina Carlini was born on May 12, 1985, in Rome, Italy. She was born into a family of musicians, and her parents were both professional classical musicians. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a soprano. From a young age, Carlini showed a natural talent for music, and her parents encouraged her to pursue a career in classical music. Carlini began her musical education at the age of four, when she started taking piano lessons with her father. She quickly showed a talent for the instrument, and by the age of six, she was performing in public. At the age of eight, Carlini began studying the violin, and she soon became proficient on that instrument as well. In addition to her musical studies, Carlini also excelled academically. She attended a prestigious private school in Rome, where she was at the top of her class. Despite her academic success, however, Carlini remained focused on her music, and she continued to practice and perform regularly. Carlini's first major performance came when she was ten years old. She was invited to perform at a concert in Rome, where she played a solo piano piece. The audience was impressed by her talent, and she received a standing ovation. This performance marked the beginning of Carlini's career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, Carlini continued to perform in public, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles. She also began to compete in music competitions, and she quickly established herself as one of the top young musicians in Italy. In 2001, Carlini was awarded a scholarship to study at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. She moved to the United States and began studying with some of the top classical musicians in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Carlini continued to perform in public, and she also began to compose her own music. After graduating from Juilliard in 2005, Carlini returned to Italy and began to establish herself as a professional musician. She performed regularly in concerts and recitals, and she also began to teach music to young students. In 2008, Carlini was invited to perform at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in Austria. She played a solo piano piece, and her performance was met with critical acclaim. Tragically, Carlini's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and teach as much as she could, and she remained an inspiration to her students and fans around the world.
