Klangkollektiv Wien is a classical music ensemble based in Vienna, Austria. The group was founded in 2014 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to explore new and innovative ways of presenting classical music to audiences. The founding members of Klangkollektiv Wien were violinists Anna Maria Pammer and Katharina Engelbrecht, violist Johanna Pichlmair, cellist Lukas Lauermann, and pianist Christoph Traxler. All of the members were graduates of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and had already established themselves as accomplished musicians in their own right. From the beginning, Klangkollektiv Wien set out to create a unique and dynamic approach to classical music performance. The group's repertoire includes both traditional classical works and contemporary pieces, and they are known for their innovative programming and collaborations with other artists and musicians. One of the highlights of Klangkollektiv Wien's early career was their performance at the 2015 Salzburg Festival. The group was invited to perform as part of the festival's Young Singers Project, which showcases young musicians from around the world. Klangkollektiv Wien's performance was well-received by both audiences and critics, and it helped to establish the group as one of the most exciting new ensembles in the classical music world. Since then, Klangkollektiv Wien has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in Europe, including the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Musikverein Vienna, and the Lucerne Festival. They have also collaborated with a wide range of artists and musicians, including the composer and pianist Philip Glass, the jazz pianist and composer Uri Caine, and the singer-songwriter Soap&Skin. In addition to their performances, Klangkollektiv Wien has also received numerous awards and accolades for their work. In 2016, they were awarded the Bank Austria Art Prize, which recognizes outstanding young artists in Austria. They were also named the winners of the 2017 International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan, and the 2018 International Chamber Music Competition in Trondheim, Norway. Despite their success, Klangkollektiv Wien remains committed to their mission of bringing classical music to new audiences and exploring new and innovative ways of presenting the genre. They continue to push the boundaries of classical music performance, and their unique approach has earned them a dedicated following of fans and supporters around the world.
