Sotin began her formal music education at the Zagreb Academy of Music, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Zdenka Švab-Đurić. One of Sotin's most notable performances was her portrayal of the title role in Richard Strauss's "Elektra" at the Salzburg Festival in 1990. Her performance was widely praised, and she was hailed as one of the most promising young opera singers of her generation. Sotin continued to perform in leading roles at the Salzburg Festival for many years, including performances in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and "The Marriage of Figaro." Sotin's career also took her to other major opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Paris Opera.
