Benjamin Bernheim is a French tenor who has quickly risen to become one of the most sought-after classical music artists of his generation. Born on September 5, 1985, in Paris, France, Bernheim grew up in a family of music lovers. His father was a jazz musician, and his mother was a music teacher. From a young age, Bernheim showed a natural talent for singing, and he began taking voice lessons at the age of 16. After completing his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, Bernheim made his professional debut in 2012 at the Opéra National de Lyon, where he performed the role of Tybalt in Charles Gounod's "Roméo et Juliette." This performance marked the beginning of a successful career that has taken him to some of the world's most prestigious opera houses. One of Bernheim's most notable performances was his portrayal of Rodolfo in Giacomo Puccini's "La Bohème" at the Royal Opera House in London in 2018. His performance was widely praised by critics, who noted his "rich, honeyed tenor" and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the character. The performance was also notable for Bernheim's duet with soprano Sonya Yoncheva, which was described as "exquisite" and "heartbreaking." In addition to his performance at the Royal Opera House, Bernheim has also performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Paris Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera, among others. He has worked with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. Bernheim's repertoire includes a wide range of operas, from the classics of Mozart and Verdi to the modern works of Benjamin Britten and Philippe Boesmans. He is particularly known for his performances in French opera, including Jules Massenet's "Werther" and "Manon," and Charles Gounod's "Faust." In addition to his work in opera, Bernheim is also a frequent performer in concert halls and recital venues. He has performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Verbier Festival, among others. He has also released several albums, including "Bel Canto" and "Benjamin Bernheim." Bernheim's talent has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2015, he was awarded the "Révélation Artiste Lyrique" award by the French Association of Music Critics. In 2016, he was named "Best Male Singer" at the International Opera Awards. He has also been awarded the "Prix Lyrique de l'AROP" by the Paris Opera and the "Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca" by the Institut de France.
