Vernon de Tar was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on May 12, 1923, in New York City, Vernon de Tar was the son of a musician and a music teacher. His father, a violinist, was his first teacher, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Vernon de Tar's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. As a child, Vernon de Tar was exposed to a wide range of music, including classical, jazz, and popular music. He was particularly drawn to the works of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, and he spent countless hours practicing and studying their compositions. By the time he was a teenager, Vernon de Tar had already performed in several concerts and had won numerous awards for his musical abilities. After completing his high school education, Vernon de Tar enrolled at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. There, he studied under some of the most renowned music teachers of the time, including Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay. He also had the opportunity to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1945, Vernon de Tar was drafted into the United States Army and served in Europe during World War II. While in the army, he continued to play the violin and even performed for his fellow soldiers. After the war, he returned to the United States and resumed his studies at Juilliard. In 1948, Vernon de Tar made his debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic. The performance was a huge success, and he quickly became one of the most sought-after violinists in the world. Over the next few years, he performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. In addition to his solo performances, Vernon de Tar was also a member of several chamber music ensembles. He was a founding member of the Juilliard String Quartet, which quickly became one of the most respected and admired quartets in the world. The quartet performed together for over 30 years and recorded numerous albums. Throughout his career, Vernon de Tar received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the world of music. In 1959, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Prize, which is considered one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. He was also awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1987, which is the highest honor given to artists by the United States government. Vernon de Tar continued to perform and teach until his death in 1997. He was a beloved figure in the world of classical music, and his contributions to the art form will be remembered for generations to come.
