From a young age, Bernard showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Bernard's musical education began at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Nadia Boulanger. He also received training from other notable musicians such as Yvonne Lefébure and Pierre Sancan. Bernard's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly became one of the most promising young musicians of his generation. In 1965, Bernard won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, which marked the beginning of his illustrious career. This competition was a significant milestone for Bernard, as it helped him gain international recognition and establish himself as a leading pianist of his time. He went on to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris.
