Brook Speltz is a renowned cellist in the world of classical music. He was born on December 22, 1987, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. His parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue music from a young age. He started playing the cello when he was just four years old, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already won several competitions and performed in numerous concerts. Speltz attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with renowned cellist Joel Krosnick. He also studied with Timothy Eddy at the Mannes School of Music. During his time at Juilliard, Speltz was a member of the Juilliard String Quartet, one of the most prestigious chamber music ensembles in the world. He also performed with the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. After graduating from Juilliard, Speltz joined the Escher String Quartet as their cellist. The quartet quickly gained recognition for their innovative programming and dynamic performances. They won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2013, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise for the future. As a member of the Escher String Quartet, Speltz has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Wigmore Hall in London. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including pianist Leon Fleisher and violinist Pinchas Zukerman. In addition to his work with the Escher String Quartet, Speltz is also an active soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Seattle Chamber Music Society, and the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, among others. He has also collaborated with pianist Orion Weiss and violinist Benjamin Beilman in various chamber music projects. Speltz's playing has been praised for its warmth, depth, and technical brilliance. He is known for his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he plays, whether it is a solo piece or a chamber work.
