The Berlin RIAS Sinfonietta is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1991 in Berlin, Germany. The ensemble was established by the Rundfunk im amerikanischen Sektor (RIAS) broadcasting company, which was a joint venture between the United States and the United Kingdom during the Cold War. The RIAS Sinfonietta was created as a chamber orchestra that would perform classical music in the Berlin area. The ensemble's main members are a group of highly skilled musicians who are dedicated to performing classical music at the highest level. The ensemble is led by its principal conductor, Michael Sanderling, who is a renowned conductor and cellist. Sanderling has been the principal conductor of the RIAS Sinfonietta since 2017 and has led the ensemble in many successful performances.
