Barocksolisten München is a classical music ensemble that specializes in performing Baroque music. The ensemble was founded in 1995 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for Baroque music and wanted to create a platform to showcase their talents. The founding members of the ensemble were violinist and artistic director Daniel Giglberger, cellist Kristin von der Goltz, and harpsichordist Michael Behringer. The ensemble's main members have changed over the years, but the core group has remained consistent. In addition to Giglberger, von der Goltz, and Behringer, the ensemble currently includes violinists Anne Katharina Schreiber and Mirijam Contzen, violist Danusha Waskiewicz, cellist Xenia Jankovic, and double bassist Nabil Shehata. Barocksolisten München has performed at major music festivals and concert halls around the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The ensemble has also collaborated with renowned soloists such as soprano Simone Kermes, countertenor Andreas Scholl, and cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. One of the highlights of Barocksolisten München's career was their performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos at the Salzburg Festival in 2006. The ensemble received critical acclaim for their interpretation of the concertos, with The New York Times describing their performance as "exhilarating" and "brilliantly played." The ensemble has also received numerous awards for their recordings, including the Echo Klassik Award and the Diapason d'Or. Barocksolisten München's repertoire includes works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and other Baroque composers.
